Lincoln now likes to scrunch his nose, laugh in sarcastic short blurps, and pull up on things. Also mostly says mamamamam and mom when I am around and dadadada and dad, when Bryce is around. I don't know how he does it, we actually don't encourage him at all because neither of us knows what we want to be called.

Scratch That

Our plans have changed! We have found a renter for the house while we are gone! The renters will be using the house between semesters in college. So to accommodate we are starting earlier (May) and flip flopping our trip. Going South before North. We may still start in Springfield, IL, but then it is Missouri, Oklahoma, and Texas. I am hoping the earlier summer is better for temperatures in the South than August.

Planning Stages

Although the family does like to travel by the seat of its pants, a general outline is usually established to mark key points we don't want to miss.

So far this is what we have planned:

1. Springfield, IL- Abraham Lincoln Museum and home
2. Columbus, OH- Durbin Grandparents
3. Pittsburg, PA- Warhol Museum (maybe robots museum)
4. Niagara Falls, NY- Niagara Falls

Then we will enter Vermont. The list of ideas include:
1. Ben and Jerry's Factory Tour
2. Maple Sugar Farm Tour and/or Maple Museum
3. Museums of either Norman Rockwell or Grandmother Moses

New Hampshire ideas:
1. Canterbury Shaker Village
2. The home of Robert Frost
3. Franconia

Triple A Link

Triple A Link, originally uploaded by adventureswithlincoln.

When Bryce and I first started traveling I made fun of him for following his dad's pattern of wanting to hit all the gem attractions in AAA books. I thought he was missing all the fun little things along the way. Then we went to some of those fun little things I did in my childhood and they did not have the same appeal on me as an adult as they did as a kid. Soon I became a gem follower. I don't feel like I need to do them all, but through experience I have found that AAA knows what they are doing. I ordered our free books in the mail last week. Let the planning stages begin!!!

(Also, we only need 11 more followers. Tell a friend. This $50 is burning a whole in my pocket.)

Fifty Nifty Subscribers

Fifty Nifty United States.
Fifty Nifty Subscribers.
Fifty Nifty Dollars to Win.

Lincoln has a dream. A dream to one day help his mother complete her goal of visiting all 50 states before she turns 30. This year she turns 29. That dream must happen soon.

Lincoln needs 50 followers to help rev up the engines. 50 subscribers will help create a base for advertisers and sponsorships. So subscribe to our rss feed, let me know via a comment your on board. And if you have anything you would like to advertise or if you would like to become a sponsor please let us know.

The proposal: July 1 through September-ish Lincoln will take his parents on a USA road trip. Shannon and Bryce first started traveling the US together in 2004. For three months they road tripped around the states west of the Mississippi. The trip resulted in 18 states visited and the engagement of Shannon and Bryce. Shannon has held a goal since then to visit all US states before she turned thirty. This year she turns 29!

The remaining states: Connecticut, Maryland, Rhode Island, Vermont, New Hampshire, Maine, Arkansas, Texas, Oklahoma, North Carolina, South Carolina, Alabama, Mississippi, New Jersey, Delaware and Georgia.

The blog: A travel blog about our families adventures as well as tips for traveling with a child, great off road attractions, and weekly prize drawings for fabulous merchandise.

The prizes: Our first prize is $50. It will go to one of the first fifty to subscribe to the blog. After subscribing comment on this post and tell us what is your favorite state and why.
